Oh, thank you! What wisdom this imparts. This week I’m going to, for the first time in my life, contact my legislators and express my concern. It’s time!
I am also hoping that the mechanisms of our Republic will engage soon enough, before he and his posse dismantle them, and hold him accountable for his cruel and illegal acts. This needs to stop!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Pastor Pete! ❤️ Your words of wisdom and insight encourage me to “fight the good fight!” You KNOW how much I’m grieving and struggling right now, along with countless others. Your validation of my feelings is comforting in knowing I’m not alone. May peace be found and reign among us! 🙏🏼
Yes to all this , Peter and NO to those who would have it otherwise. Resist and Attack are the best strategies to insure they will not prevail. They have not one gram of compassion nor concern for others and they must be stopped before they destroy any more in their mode of slash and burn.
Speaking truth to power….a great practice except that the power in this case isn’t listening. And there’s a reason why which comes from not wanting to hear. Here’s where I often employ Bonhoeffer’s comment:
Thank you for very heart felt and truly deep thoughts. I know it's something that has long been on my mind also. "We the people" allowed it to get this bad. Between the last 3 presidents, the situation during covid, with churches,, schools, everything being closed down "just because" one man said to doit, and no good reasons, we followed like sheep. I did write my people in Washington and in Kansas. I have tired to buy American, to buy less, to give what i don't need, and yet it all seemed too little. What would you have us to do Pete? We live in the richest and one of the most corrupt government in the world at this point. Sin is rampant. At my age, I pray and just keep saying "Come Lord Jesus, Come" ........ but if I knew what I could DO I would attmept to do it. I need suggestions. At this point I pray.
I also struggle to know what to do. Each of us has only one day to live at a time, and the people we encounter either in person or via the electronic communication in that day. The challenge is to infect that day with love and concern and support of others in hopes that it might infect that day, that space, and the people we encounter with that love. If we will have another epidemic, let it be that.
Thank you ...... I try and I am working more and more on that.
I love that you have been able to meet so many people in other countries. And yes we are alol the same. Born in sin, need love, need forgiveness and all need Jesus. I'm sure y ou are loved all over the world. ;-)
Thanks, Mary. It is, of course, baffling that a third of the country thought Trump was the better choice, and that a third simply bailed on voting altogether. I take some comfort that a third of us made a rational choice, even though a very small percent smaller number than those who checked his name.
I have always considered Trump a bully and have never trusted him to tell the truth or act in a moral or ethical manner. Now the GOP lawmakers and many justices are assisting and supporting him on our playground.
Yes, and it is frightening! I keep hoping that some of those who have supported him will begin to see just what they have wrought by electing him and begin to waver in their support for him.
But would you rather have the corruption and out of control spending on ridiculous things? Biden and others getting rich off of others? us not knowing WHO was making the decisions?
I pray that Trump will tone it down and he really has changed some, but he still reverts back to what he has been most of this life. I just pray that he can do well for the United States.
There seems to be little evidence that he will change. My hope is that there will be some accountability that emerges from the checks and balances built into our Republic that will reign in his worst instincts.
Daniel, I am soon to be 81 years old and I live out of a backpack the year around. Many years ago I walked the full 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage across northern Spain and discovered I needed nothing more than what I was carrying in my backpack. After my wife died almost fifteen years ago I started traveling outside the country at least two months a year. Over two years ago I sold or gave away all my belongings. When I am in the US I stay in a room in my daughter and her husband's house. That serves as my legal address in the US. Around ten months a years I travel outside the country staying mostly in inexpensive Airbnbs, hostels, and with friends I have made over the year. I can't buy anything other than what I consume since there is no room in my backpack to carry it. I share this to confirm that my quality of life is as good or better than it ever has been. A laptop, iPad, and iPhone provide lots of contact with people I love and I make new friends constantly as I travel. Keep spreading the news, Daniel!!
That sounds like a great way to live. Good for you! When I am done caring for my grandbabies, I may have to follow suit. By the way, I love your article. You are spot on. Thank you for speaking out against the bullies.
My three granddaughters have grown up, and I had the joy of my oldest granddaughter asking if we could travel together a few years ago. We spent three weeks in various places, London, Dublin, Galway, Paris, and Madrid.
I have a sister who is 90, a brother who is 93, and another brother who is 95. They are all still as annoying as ever. I may not make it through the night, but I may hang around for a while yet. The good news is, however long I last, it will just come one day at a time. It is a good thing since that's all I can handle.
Thank you for this reminder and encouragement to focus on needs vs wants, to support small businesses, and think twice about what is absolutely necessary for survival each day!

It is hard to know what to do in the face of what is happening, but apparently those contacts do have impact.
I’m so disturbed by:
-oligarchy and their special interests
-Musk dismantling agencies investigating him
-ridiculous statements that Ukraine started the war and Zelenskyy is a dictator
-incompetence and inexperience of new cabinet members
-the fact that loyalty to “King” Trump is all-important
-Trump’s adoration of world dictators
-the prospect of a $4 trillion debt to fund tax cuts for billionaires and wealthy corporations
-the support of the GOP for this corrupt convicted felon.
Pastor Pete, thank you again for your tactful eloquence in addressing concerns regarding the path of our democracy.
I am very supportive of uncovering fraud, waste and abuse of power, but show me some proof. Don’t just take a chain saw/wrecking ball approach.
I’m praying that the judicial system and election process will turn the tide.
Praying for our country 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
I am also hoping that the mechanisms of our Republic will engage soon enough, before he and his posse dismantle them, and hold him accountable for his cruel and illegal acts. This needs to stop!
Thank you Peter. For standing up. For voicing your righteous anger. I’m happy and proud to be in this with someone like you.
...and I with you!

You speak the truth!
Speaking truth to power….a great practice except that the power in this case isn’t listening. And there’s a reason why which comes from not wanting to hear. Here’s where I often employ Bonhoeffer’s comment:
That the truth is at least spoken is something of value, even if the one who needs to hear it most, doesn't have the ability to listen.

I too am concerned for our country and all those less fortunate who are being left behind. You are so right that “bullies”
are in charge. We need to stand up and say “no more”.
Hi cuz. You put it in a way that I could not.
A bully in the White House was unimaginable until it happened.
AND it amazes me that more people did not vote at all than the number who voted for the Orange man or for Kamala.
Thanks, Mary. It is, of course, baffling that a third of the country thought Trump was the better choice, and that a third simply bailed on voting altogether. So very well-said 👍

Thank you, Peter!!! I am emailing but will switch to calls. I am very nervous for our country!!!!!
